Ladies From Hell: Still The Queen of London

Claimed for just $8,500, back in the Fall of 2021, Ladies From Hell has been at her best for a little over two years now and continues to show up in the winner's circle - winning twice this month - as a twelve-year-old for the father-daughter ownership duo of Mike and Shae Sumner of London.

The BC-bred mare knew how to win years ago - racing and beating up on the $6,000 claimers at Fraser Downs, in BC, before climbing the class ladder to race against the top class, out west, for horseman Paul Davies. Davies would make the move to Ontario in 2020 and took the mare along with him, but she'd soon find herself in a claimer again... The Sumner's would take a chance on the mare and the rest is history.

The popular mare got the attention of London’s CTV News in January of 2025 - '$60K and 11 wins': London father-daughter duo win major award from Western Fair Raceway

Ladies From Hell would repeat as the Aged Pacing Mare of the Year, for 2025, in London and she'd also be named the Overall Horse of the Year at The Raceway's Annual Awards Banquet held late last month. That’s quite a feat for an older mare who would miss most of her 2023 season due to a health condition, but what a ride it’s been for both her connections and fans over the last two years in London.

After winning her last two starts, at The Raceway, Ladies From Hells now shows a 58-48-38 win-place-show record from 235 career starts - good for $376,000 earned and she would take her 1:53.2 life mark last season in Sarnia, ON... Easily a fan-favourite in the Forest City, of Ontario, she’s been dubbed 'The Queen of London' and it fits her to a tee… Her next race is this coming Tuesday where she is the morning line favourite - trying to make it three in a row at The Raceway!
